The new VAFS client has been released. With it will come a host of new interactive features to go with the new, smoother interface. It runs like before, in the background, and automatically tracks and submits flight information.

New features will include:

  • Pilot Rewards
  • Pilot Center, including a new log book, pilot awards and pilot store
  • New Flight Map
  • Fuel Planner
  • Stock Market

There are also enhanced website display modules, which will be incorporated into our website as the kinks are ironed out. In addition to the new VAFS features, we are also working on the following:

  • New hub pages
  • Increased use of Facebook page and discontinuing the old Forum
  • Cargo division
  • North American division
  • Experimentation with new liveries

The best way to keep up is to join our Facebook page, or to sign up on our RSS feed. Otherwise, keeping checking the BLOG for continuous updates.

SPECIAL PROGRAM/CARGO DIVISION PILOTS WANTED

January 08 2011

Pilots interested in flying cargo jets in a special program are encouraged in contacting us to be enrolled in the program. Any current CWA pilot with 10 or more hours and a rating of 95 or more is eligible. We will consider applicants with other VAFS airlines who meet the same qualifications.

This will be operated as a special dispatch program as we look at the best way to build up our planned cargo division. Flights will not be available on the regular schedule, but will be assigned individually to pilots in the program.

You will have the opportunity to fly A300, B777F and B744F aircraft on both long and medium haul flights. Upon completion of 2 dispatched flights, and a commitment to complete at least 2 per month throughout the program, you will receive a rank promotion and other perks.

For details, respond to the email you will be receiving if you are a current pilot, or JOIN AND EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE .

4 New A321’s; New Routes Launched

September 11 2010

Our 4 new A321 aircraft, giving us a total of 7 A321s, have been deployed on the following new routes. This also marks our first deployment of mainline aircraft outside of our Dublin hub, with one A321 based at Frankfurt. This is the first step in elevating EDDF to hub status.

  • CA067/CA068    Dublin – Istanbul
  • CA167/CA168    Frankfurt – Istanbul
  • CA069/CA070    Dublin – Tel Aviv
  • CA071/CA072    Dublin – Beirut
  • CA169/CA170    Frankfurt – Tel Aviv
  • CA171/CA172    Frankfurt – Beirut

The next round of flights from Frankfurt will be launched in the coming weeks.

A330 Update

September 06 2010

The A330 is still in the paint shop. It is currently wearing a mock-up of the standard Celtic livery. However, we have decided to experiment with some alternate liveries. As a new flagship aircraft, we may want it to wear a special edition livery. There is also the possibility of our intercontinental aircraft wearing a distinct branding. Stay tuned…

Beirut, Istanbul & Tel Aviv…

September 06 2010

…from Dublin AND Frankfurt! With the addition of new A321 aircraft, these new routes will be rolled out and available to pilots at Midnight on Friday (CDT). This marks yet another Mediterranean expansion, as well as the first full-sized jets originating from our upcoming Frankfurt hub. Frankfurt will receive more regional jet and mainline routes between now and the end of the year, and intercontinental flights early next year.

New Routes Delayed / A330 Set for Late Sept. Debut

August 16 2010

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Phase I of our summer route expansion has been delayed until the end of this week. Rather than being uploaded in one batch, they may be released in smaller installations throughout the week. A news release will be posted at each upload.

The A330 has completed preliminary paint work and is currently deployed on proving routes. The testing has so far exceeded expectations. The A330 will be introduced on existing 767 trans-Atlantic routes, with the 767s being shifted to new service.

Route Expansion Details

August 08 2010

Our summer route expansion is almost complete, and the first block of flights will be uploaded into the system by the end of the week (August 13th). The second block is scheduled to enter the system in September. The expansion will include the addition of E170, ERJ145, A319 and A321 aircraft. Flights will be added from the Dublin hub, including some point-to-point routes within Europe, as well as more routes for our current EuroLink network anchored in Cork.

The more significant additions will involve the additions of Shannon and Belfast as focus cities, as well as a further build-up of routes at the future Frankfurt hub. Shannon will be a blend of EuroLink regional jet flights as well as A319 mainline flights. Belfast will be integrated into our EuroLink regional jet network. Frankfurt will also see the addition of both regional jet and A319/321 mainline flights.

More A320 Family & Embraers for Additional Routes

July 27 2010

In the coming weeks, in addition to the widebody announcement, our mainline and EuroLink networks will be receiving new aircraft and a new set of routes. These new routes will give pilots not yet qualified for the bigger birds more variety and ample opportunity to build up their hours to earn the heavy jet credentials.

The Embraers will continue to build our high frequency, point to point network within Europe, and will add frequencies from two focus cities. The mainline Airbus aircraft will add some more destinations from our Dublin hub, as well as compliment the new widebodies at an all new hub on the European continent.

A330-200/B777-300ER to Join Widebody Fleet

July 27 2010

The newest addition to our fleet, the A330-200, is currently being prepared in the paint shop, with the newly ordered B777-300ER not far behind. The A330 is slated to become the flagship of our Transatlantic service, with the 767 taking on a secondary role. The 767 fleet will continue to grow in numbers, with the addition of a new transit hub yet to be announced. The A330 will be sent to many current USA destinations, as well as open some new routes from our Dublin hub. Initial models will be the A330-200, and may include the –300 at a later time.

The 777, which will become the largest aircraft in our fleet, will be arriving late fall to early winter. Its arrival will accompany a major expansion of our network, details of which will be announced at a later date. For now, we will only say that it will carry us east, with one or two new hub cities along the way!
